At Boxman we like to think that the best things come in boxes delivered to your door. Fast fading are the days of sending and receiving letters, so for many of us getting something through the letter box, other than something really dull like a bill or an insurance reminder, is a real treat. Enter the subscription box. They’re nothing new, of course (who remembers those book and CD subscriptions of the ’90s?) but just recently we’ve noticed such a phenomenal assortment of interesting and unique offerings, that we felt compelled to share them with you all.
DRINKS
To kick things off, we’ve started this list – like any good morning – with some fresh coffee. Those chaps over at Cafédirect will send a 250g box (about 20-25 cups) to your door, halfway through each month, from just £7.95. They offer two subscription options: the Discovery Plan, for those who like to keep things interesting, and the Destination Plan, for those who know exactly what they want. You can choose between whole beans or ground coffee too, and even whether you want a grind for espresso or filter coffee machine. What’s more, the coffee is sourced ethically and directly from expert small farmers, so this is a morning pick me up everyone can feel good about.
With the coffee addicts covered we could hardly leave all our fellow tea lovers hanging, could we? From £10 a month you can have three types of tea slipped through your letterbox, and when you sign up you’ll be able to choose exactly which teas you like (and let them know if you have any allergies). The gurus at BRUU note all of this and curate a box of tea goodness just for you. They’re also sourced ethically and are fresher than what you’d find at a supermarket, so whether you’re a tea rookie or a self-confessed tea snob, you’re covered.
If coffee and tea don’t get you going then beer almost certainly will. The folks at Flavourly are devoted to craft beer, so much so that they curate a box of 10 different brews for your imbibing pleasure every month. Thoughtful, eh? The beer selections are based on what you’ve said you like and how you’ve rated the beers they’ve previously sent you, and are chosen from a wide variety of micro-breweries. The more you rate, the better you’ll like your box, but they’re pretty darn good at getting things right first time. Boxes start from £20 a month and include a copy of Mr. Stout magazine for all those beer-savvy subscribers out there who want to stay in the know.
If it’s wine that really floats your boat then look no further than Vinoa, a company that sends six 178ml bottles (which is about the equivalent of six large glasses) to your door every month. You can choose between red, white, or a mixture of both for your box. Each bottle also comes with a tasting card with information about the winery and the region. They select premium artisan wines and try to choose winemakers with a sustainable approach to viniculture. Boxes start at £29.70 month, so get sipping!
FOOD
With so many boxes to choose from, Riverford is a subscription box addict’s paradise. They really do do it all! They offer recipe boxes containing all the ingredients to whip up a complete meal, ranging in style from veggie to quick to classic and beyond. Along with the endless varieties of boxes, they also allow you to customize how often each box is delivered, so you won’t have to waste anything, or – heaven forbid – find yourself buried knee-deep in leeks and beetroot. On top of everything else, they’re a company with great morals: their produce is 100% organic and the fruit is fairtrade.
What could be better than cheese delivered monthly to your door? Not much, that’s what! The good people at The Cheese Society send out five cheeses to you for just £35 a month. With portion sizes typically between about 900g-1kg, they’re not anything to sniff at – pun very much intended. You can specify delivery dates, but they only deliver Tuesdays-Fridays, so you’ll need to be home or run the risk of having to share your fromage-y haul with your co-workers… we live in trepidatious times, people.
Chocolate lovers far and wide rejoice – we’ve found a box just for you. Cocoa Crave will send you 24 all-natural and delicious chocolates a month. That’s almost one a day, if you can bear the temptation. The monthly subscription costs £15.95, but you can get 1/3 off the first month by using the code “Crave”. Depending on when you order, your chocolates will arrive at the beginning or around the middle of each month. This isn’t so much giving in to temptation as being enabled by it, but when the offerings are this delicious, why worry?
After the last two rather indulgent boxes we thought we ought to treat you to one that will make you feel good for all the right reasons. Life Box is all about wellness; they’re committed to sending out wholesome, natural and real food products. Each box comes with a minimum of 12 food and drink products and you can choose from women’s, men’s, kids, everyday, and vegan boxes. The everyday box starts from £19.95 and if you pay upfront you’ll receive free shipping.
CLOTHING & BEAUTY
This one’s for all the stylish-footed men out there. The London Sock Company is all about luxurious socks delivered to your door. You can choose to have one, two, or three pairs delivered, can change the amount at any time, and you can choose the specific styles you want. Boxes start from £10/month and are sure to bring you and your feet plenty of joy.
Is the contents of your underwear drawer looking a little tired? Have you been relying that new pair from your auntry every Christmas to keep you going (and who hasn’t at some point or other donned a pair of festive undies in the height of summer?) If this sounds a tad familiar, here’s something that might be timely. Briefd will send you a new pair every month until you’re absolutely swimming in new pants. Hate white pants? Not a problem! Let them know and you can rest assured your box will be delivered with a colourful surprise each month. You choose the size, cut, and style and they’ll do the rest from just £15.
Birchbox is all about beauty and for £12.95 a month they’ll send you five beauty products. When signing up you can customize your beauty profile to make sure the products are right for you. Sensitive skin? Hard to match skintone? No problem, the people of Birchbox have you covered.
PICK ME UPS
Probably the classiest box on the list is from Not Another Bill. As the name suggests, these guys are in the business of being the antidote to boring mail. They pride themselves on sending something special, long lasting, and that can’t be found on the high street. When signing up you’ll select what type of things you might like, from things like homewares, art and things for your desk. The rest is up to them, and a new surprise will be sent to your door for £24 a month.
There’s no pick me up quite as rewarding as the feeling after a good old clean-sesh. Boxman delivers extra closet space to your door in the form of boxes from just £5/month and £5 to return per box. Unlike anyone else on this list, they deliver empty boxes, you pack and have them collected, leaving you free to bask in all your new-found space. When you’re ready for your things back they’re no more than a few clicks away and your boxes will arrive at your door as soon as the very next day. Great for clearing your clutter or even storing your stuff while you move house.
Calling all vinyl junkies! Wax & Stamp send new records to your door every month for £26 a month. Their staff choose one and also have a new special guest select another, so you get not one but two funky fresh records delivered. Each month, they try and make sure you get one LP and one EP or single.
This is one for those with a four legged friend or two that they want to treat. Pawsome choose what to send based on your dog’s age, size, weight, breed, and fur type. Boxes come with between five and six items ranging from treats, toys, and accessories, to hygiene and pet care products. Starting at £16.90 a month, you’ll be sure to have one happy pooch.
For those who love to get lost between the pages of a book with a nice cup of tea by your side, look no further. Book and a Brew send out a fresh new hardback novel and a box of tea for your enjoyment every month. Not sure if you’ll like the books? Check out their previous titles to see if they’re up your street. What could be better than arriving home to find a brand, spanking new hardback book and some delicious tea on your doorstep? Just the thought of this alone makes us want to curl up under a blanket with a great read and a mildly caffeinated beverage..
Every woman dreads it, every man is wary of it. That time of the month is something we all know a little too well. While Pink Parcel can’t make it go away, they might be able to make it just a little more bearable. You’ll choose your favourite pad or tampon brand and they’ll send it to you every month along with some goodies. The goodies include things like tea, something sweet, and beauty products to help you get through the hardship that is ‘that time.’ Boxes cost £10.50 and you’ll choose from one of three delivery dates to treat yourself.
HOBBIES
Scrawlrbox is an art fiend’s absolute dream! They send around six premium art products each month tied to a certain theme. Past themes have included lettering and anime, and there is also a monthly challenge to get you excited about your new products. Each box comes with a print from a featured artist that will inspire the artist in each of us. The boxes cost £15 each and fit through your letterbox.
Geeky awesomeness delivered monthly to your door? Yes please! Infinity Crates offer classic, premium, kids, and T-shirt-only boxes, so you can geek out in exactly the way you want. When signing up you’ll select a plan and complete your profile, and the guys at Infinity Crates will then curate a box of fun just for you. The classic box comes in at an oh-so-satisfying £16.99, including P&P.
Who doesn’t love a good craft night? Crafty Creatives supply you with all the materials for one per month. Boxes cost £15, and each one is wonderfully different but suitable for every skill level of crafter. Past boxes have included the kit to make things like beaded coasters, woven items, and rag rug wreaths.
As ever, if you just need some extra space, Boxman are on hand to lend a hand. If you need anything stored away they’ll deliver the empty boxes to your home and once you’ve filled them up, they’ll come back to whisk them away to the Boxman vaults. Need something back? Give us a ring or drop us an email and we’ll deliver it back to you within hours. Couldn’t be simpler, could it?
