What do you have clogging up your garage space? Chances are that you have a lot more than just your car. In fact, in many cases the car is the last thing you’ll find in many garages. For a lot of people, the garage is an extra room – a workspace, or perhaps even a man cave (we know a thing or two about man caves around these parts). Whatever the purpose, finding a way to make more of the space you have is a good starting point – not particularly easy when you realise that many people also use their garage as a spare loft.
If your garage is also your self-storage unit, but you dream of owning your own man cave or workshop, the trick is to make better use of the space you have.
Use the ceilings

Garages usually have a decent amount of space, but you would do well to keep your floors as clear as possible. Make use of the garage ceiling instead. Overhead storage is available from most DIY retailers, and it’s great for seasonal equipment (skis don’t exactly slot into the kitchen drawer, do they?) and other lengthy items (your artificial Christmas tree, for example).
Use shelving

Simple to install, and great for keeping the clutter off the floor, whether you’re using wall-mounted shelves or floating shelving (the kind that hangs from the ceiling). You could also look into enclosed shelving, which will really help tie the place together and protect your possessions from any pests and too much dust in the air.
Try racking
By which we don’t mean a medieval form of torture, of course. Grid walls are an excellent way of organizing your storage space, and they’re easily cleaned, too. The racks will allow you to keep items in plain sight, so you can make use of them further down the line. Accessories attached to the racking can also bring more to your garage space, allowing you to hang a wider variety of items so that you can make it that little bit more bespoke.
Store your stuff elsewhere
The other option, of course, is self-storage – the on-demand kind, of course. Boxman deals in London storage with a difference, bringing the boxes to you so that you don’t have to set foot outside, storing them, and then returning them to you when you need your stuff back again. Great for garage-based projects that come and go (or for when you want to turn your garage into a temporary man-cave/ she-shed, of course). For more info on Boxman, check out: storage London.
